The members of the Former Chairmen and Women Leaders' Forum of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) recently paid a solidarity visit to the MD/CEO of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Hon. Ossy Onuko.
The group members, drawn from
nine wards of Awka Constituency A, disclosed that Soludo's developmental giant
strides within the short period of his office motivated them to drum up support
for him.
The coordinator of the forum,
Mr. Ikechukwu Anene, who was the former Chairman of APGA, Awka Ward 6, and the
current Deputy Chairman of Awka South Local Government Council, said that Gov.
Chukwuma Charles Soludo has transformed Awka into a world-class capital city
through his human-oriented and infrastructural development revolutions in the
state.
Anene notes that Awka had been
neglected by previous administrations that governed the state since its
creation in 1991, and judging from the developmental feats achieved so far, no
vote will be lost in Awka in the 2025 gubernatorial elections.
He disclosed that the forum was
created to ensure that no stone is left unturned in support of the governor,
stressing that as former leaders of the party at the grassroots, they have the
enormous experience and willpower required to guarantee APGA's victory in all
elections.
Also speaking, the first female
ward Chairman in Awka South, Mrs. Bridget Okeke, who was the former Chairman of
Umuokpu Ward 7, hinted that Gov. Soludo has made the election a lot easier for
party faithful by the good works he's doing across the state.
She appreciated Gov. Soludo for appointing a young and vibrant son of Awka, Hon. Ossy Onuko, to be part of his development agenda for Awka capital city. She noted that Awka has never had it this good in many years of its existence as the capital city of Anambra State.
In her words, "Today, Awka
has good roads, dual carriage ways, and lots of heavy infrastructural
developments like the world-class recreation centre and the new government
house ongoing. We are happy that shanties and street trading are being fought
fiercely in the city. When you drive through Awka, you feel a lot different
now," she said.
In his remarks, Mr. Alex
Chinwuko, the former Chairman of Awka Ward 5, stated that for Soludo to
remember the inner city of Awka and rescue them from the menace of flooding,
they will be eternally grateful and indebted to him. He appreciated the efforts
made by the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority to restore sanity and
order in the town, assuring of their support and goodwill.
Responding to their various
remarks, the ACTDA Boss, Hon Ossy Onuko, thanked the group for their
sensitivity in acknowledging the good work of Governor Soludo across the state.
He noted that Soludo's administration operates an open-door policy, and he has
such a listening ear to the yearning of the people. Hon Onuko insists that
Governor Soludo has imprinted his name in the gold of leadership standing in
Anambra State and hence needs to be given more work beyond 2025.
The highlight of the occasion
was the installation of Hon. Ossy Onuko as the first patron of the
organization.
