Former PDP Spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, Defects To Support President Tinubu

Bwala Expresses Unapologetic Commitment to Tinubu's Administration

In a surprising political move, Daniel Bwala, the former spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, has announced his defection from opposition leader Atiku Abubakar to throw his support behind President Bola Tinubu. Bwala, who expressed his commitment to Tinubu, made this revelation to State House Correspondents in Abuja after meeting with the President on Wednesday.

Bwala emphasized his unwavering support for President Tinubu, regardless of his recent departure from the PDP. He stated, "I have been expressing my surprise and appreciation to the president for the decisions he is taking. So this is not about a political party. And you need to know that, like I said, I was with him before I left."

As a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who switched to the PDP and served as a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar's campaign in the 2023 election, Bwala acknowledged his shift in political allegiance. Notably, he was critical of Tinubu and the APC after leaving the party due to concerns over the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in the 2023 elections.

Despite questions about his potential return to the APC, Bwala asserted that supporting President Tinubu is his primary motivation. "APC is a party. President Bola Tinubu is my motivation; if supporting him will take me to APC, so be it," he affirmed.

Commending President Tinubu for recent decisions, Bwala highlighted actions such as the suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, and efforts to cut the cost of governance by reducing the number of entourages for the president, vice president, and other government officials. Bwala expressed admiration for Tinubu's commitment to accountability, stating, "Some of his ministers that were allegedly reported to have committed infractions, instead of protecting them, he asked that the law should have its own course and suspend somebody without wasting time. That, to me, is impressive because it's about the people."
