Death has been described as a necessary end and a price every mortal must pay. The Bishop of Niger West, Anglican Communion, Bishop Johnson Ekwe, stated this at the Cathedral Church of St. Gabriel, Umueri, in Anambra East Local Government Area during a sermon marking the burial of High Chief Sir Joseph Chinedu Emeka.
Bishop Ekwe urged Christians to
live with a focus on heaven, as everyone will give an account of their
stewardship to God.
The elder brother of the
deceased and the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Izuchukwu Emeka,
described his brother as a hardworking man who never relented in any church
activities—a selfless giver who loved pleasing people more than himself.
Igwe Emeka, full of emotions,
noted that Ezeavojulu, as his brother was fondly called, was kindhearted and
someone who loved to sacrifice his comfort for the welfare of others.
He thanked everyone who made
the burial a success, including members of the Boys Brigade, Nwafor Orizu
College of Education, Nsugbe, and the Young Wives, among others.
In her tribute, the wife of the
deceased, Mrs. Adaobi Faith Emeka, eulogized her husband, saying that he was
her backbone—a man who never compromised his faith, a sincere husband, and
father.
The first son, Mr. Franklin
Onyekachi Emeka, while thanking everyone who graced the burial of his father,
noted that his father taught him a lot of things in life, such as humility and
hard work.
The burial ceremony witnessed
the presence of the crème de la crème, traditional rulers, government officials,
media practitioners, among many others.
