On Friday at Anaku, Ayamelum Council headquarters, Hon. Livinus Onyenwe, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum Local Government Area, initiated the distribution of hundreds of 50kg bags of rice and grain to APGA local government executives and councillors in Ayamelum Council Area.
The Ayamelum Council Boss also took the initiative to personally
facilitate the distribution of cash gifts in the spirit of Christmas, which
calls for giving and sharing.
This action aligns with the
promise of the Anambra State Government to implement measures to cushion the
effects of fuel subsidy removal, as well as Governor Soludo's directive to the
transition committee chairmen. The distribution of rice, spanning two major categories
of the local government, was met with wild jubilation among members who
couldn't hide their joy and gratitude for this benevolence.
This move, which has received
widespread commendation from Ndi Anambra, will cut across the 24 wards in
Ayamelum local government. Ward chairmen, women leaders, and secretaries are
major beneficiaries, with each ward receiving 10 bags of 50kg of rice and the
same amount of grain seedlings for councillors, respectively.
Speaking briefly before the
distribution, Hon. Livinus Onyenwe, the chairman of all the 21 local government
transition committee chairmen, who also serves as the transition committee
chairman of Ayamelum Council Area, expressed appreciation for the executives.
He stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to alleviate the
impact of the current economic hardships in Nigeria, especially for the vulnerable
population within Anambra.
He emphasized that the
initiative, put together by the Anambra State Governor, illustrates a proactive
approach to community welfare amidst economic hardship. He noted that the
program underscores the commitment of Soludo's administration to the overall
well-being of the Ndi Anambra. Hon. Onyenwe urged the executives to continue
supporting the Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo-led administration to succeed
in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
In their separate remarks, the
chairman of Igbakwu Ward, Hon. Paul Udoka, and his Umueje Ward counterpart,
High Chief Uchenna Tagbo, equally appreciated Governor Soludo for his kind
gesture and goodwill to the people of Ayamelum. They beseeched him to do more,
noting that the effect of the subsidy removal is heavy on the people. They also
commended the Ayamelum TC Chairman, Hon. Onyenwe, for prioritizing the welfare
of the people in local government.
They noted that his outstanding
performance in the transformation of the local government system and countless
achievements within two years in office call for another reconfirmation to
encourage him to continue with the good works.
Mrs. Uzoamaka Stella Okafor,
President of Omanbala APGA Sisters, on behalf of the women, appreciated
Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the kind gesture, describing it as a laudable and
magnificent Christmas gift. She prayed for more strength and God's protection
upon his life and his entire family.
She thanked the TC Chairman for
creating a good working relationship with the APGA local government and ward
executives and also for his passion and dedication towards their welfare. She
assured her commitment to canvassing and galvanizing more support for the
continuity of the APGA-led government in Ayamelum Council Area.
The distribution of the relief
materials and other special gift items climaxed the event.
