In a firm resolve aimed at bolstering cordial relationships between Student Associations and the Anambra State government, the Anambra State Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Hon. Ossy Onuko, on Friday, 12th December 2023..
The visit, which aimed to appreciate Mr. Onuko for his massive support for the association in securing a position at the just-concluded National Convention held in Abuja, also featured the installation of the ACTDA Boss as the Agujiegbe One Of the Anambra State Chapter of NANS at the agency office in Awka, Anambra State.
Speaking during the visit, the National Sport Director of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Comrade Okafor Ernest, commended Mr. Onuko for his passion and devotion to service. He also took the opportunity to express heartfelt appreciation to the Agency Boss for immense contributions and support at the just-concluded National Convention in Abuja, which led to his emergence as a National Official of the Association.
He went further to applaud Governor Soludo's relentless efforts towards delivering positive transformation and development to Ndi Anambra. This is evident in the massive ongoing road construction across the state and other major notable projects accomplished by the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo-led administration in just twenty months in office.
Also speaking, the NANS Former National PRO, Hon. Nwankwo Ezekiel, while appreciating Hon. Onuko for his benevolence and support towards the association and other student associations within the state, noted that the security and life of the Nigerian student cannot be overemphasized. He appealed to the state government to beef up the security framework within the Awka State Capital, especially at the Unizik-Ifite axis, to ensure a peaceful and safe environment for students to carry out their academic pursuits effectively. He pledged their unalloyed support and commitment to supporting Governor Soludo in building a livable and prosperous smart mega homeland.
In his appreciation, the MD/CEO of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Hon. Ossy Onuko, while commending the association for making Anambra proud by their conduct and success at the Convention, congratulated the newly elected National Sport Director, Comrade Okafor Ernest, for working hard enough to be spotted out and elected into the prestigious National Office.
According to Hon. Onuko, Comrade Ernest was nominated and equally elected because of his commitment and contributions to promoting sports activities, noting the importance of diligence in duty. He urged him to continue to demonstrate the same exceptional spirit of sportsmanship and leadership ability as he works towards the advocacy of the just cause of the Nigerian Students and national building.
While highlighting the landmark achievements and performance of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, especially in road construction and other notable accomplished projects across the state, the ACTDA Boss emphasized the need for robust synergy and collaboration between the association and the state government. He noted the role of the NANS leadership as partners in progress in Governor Soludo's administration. He equally added that NANS, through its continuous advocacy and struggle, has played a critical role in ensuring the accountability of leaders in the Nigerian Government System.
He encouraged the association to take ownership of state government projects within their environment and remain united, suggesting better ways to reposition the association for better partnership and achievement.
Hon. Onuko further reiterated his renewed commitment towards emulating the exemplary leadership role of Governor Soludo in restoring sanity, peace, and progress within the Awka Capital City and appealed for more prayers and support for the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo-led administration to succeed.
