An All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain and the Convener of the Coalition of South East APC Support Groups, Francis Okoye, has disclosed the party's comprehensive plan to secure power from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State by 2025.
Speaking with the press, Okoye
emphasized that the emergence of an APC-affiliated governor in Anambra State by
2025 is not merely inevitable but a crucial necessity. He underscored the APC's
readiness to assume leadership, signaling the party's preparedness to supersede
the current APGA-led government under Governor Charles Soludo.
"In the last two months,
the APC in Anambra has experienced a significant influx of influential figures
into our ranks. Notably, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and his substantial
following transitioned from the YPP to the APC in October 2023. Additionally,
in November, Senator Dr. Lilian Uche Ekwunife and her supporters joined our
fold," Okoye revealed.
He further highlighted the
addition of other key personalities, including former lawmakers and the 2023
Presidential Candidate of APGA, Justice Peter Umeadi, as well as Chief Barr
Olisa Metuh, the retired and former PDP National Publicity Secretary, to the
APC Anambra ranks.
Okoye expressed confidence in
the unity of APC Anambra, asserting its standing as the leading contender in
the upcoming gubernatorial election. He disclosed the party's strategic plans
without divulging all details, emphasizing that the APC is positioning itself
as the preferred choice for the people of Anambra.
"Our party, the APC, has
devised numerous strategies to secure victory in the Anambra 2025 Gubernatorial
Election. While we may not unveil all tactics to the media, rest assured that
APC Anambra is undergoing a positive transformation. Recently, major APC
Anambra stakeholders visited the APC National Secretariat in Abuja,
demonstrating unprecedented unity and commitment," Okoye declared.
He dismissed misconceptions
about the popularity of the APC in Anambra, asserting that forthcoming months
would showcase the party's mobilization strategies. Okoye concluded, "An
Anambra Governor of APC extraction in 2025 is not just inevitable but a
desideratum."
In a separate segment, Okoye
shared insights into Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's move to the APC, stating that Ubah
recognizes the limitations of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in advancing
the political interests of the Igbo people.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah recently
defected to the APC, citing irreconcilable differences within the YPP. Okoye's
remarks shed light on Ubah's strategic decision to align with the APC for the
betterment of Igbo representation in Nigerian politics.
