Aisha Yesufu, a prominent rights activist, has affirmed her unwavering support for the presidential aspirations of Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP). Yesufu emphasized that her endorsement is not based on religious, tribal, or gender affiliations but on the belief that Obi is the candidate capable of uplifting Nigeria from its current challenges.
In a post on X, Yesufu conveyed her commitment, stating, "Your 'own' in politics is not one you share the same religion, tribe, or gender with. 'Your own' is one who can give you good governance." She clarified that while she wouldn't support Obi to be an Imam of a mosque, she wholeheartedly supports him to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Yesufu expressed her dedication, pledging 100% support for Obi, even if she ends up being his sole supporter. She asserted her readiness to back Obi's presidential aspirations, stating, "If he wants to run a thousand times, I will support him a thousand times. I will put in the work a thousand times and more." According to Yesufu, Obi represents the leader willing to undertake the necessary efforts to rescue Nigeria from those who have held it back.
Maintaining her focus on
proactive efforts, Yesufu highlighted her determination to continue the
struggle despite any challenges. She emphasized, "Giving up is never an
option. We die here," underscoring her commitment to ensuring that future
elections are conducted fairly and that the rightful winner is not denied
victory.
