During the annual Obiora Obosi cultural festival at his palace, Eze Iweka III, the traditional ruler of Obosi community in Anambra State's Idemili North Local Government Area, issued a compelling call to action.

He implored the five South East (SE) Governors and prominent Igbo stakeholders to urgently organize a Consultative Assembly aimed at addressing the escalating terrorism and insecurity in Igboland, emphasizing that the unprecedented level of terrorism in the SE geopolitical zone demands immediate attention.

Eze Iweka III appealed to Igbo stakeholders, influential individuals, and think-tank experts to collaborate with State Governments, traditional leaders, and Presidents General (PGs) to formulate effective strategies for liberating Igboland from the grip of imported terrorists and kidnappers.

Furthermore, he delivered a poignant message to the residents of Obosi, advising them to shun criminal activities such as robbery, kidnapping, cultism, drug abuse, fraud (419), and other illicit behaviors. He stressed that the challenges posed by difficult times should not serve as justification for criminal conduct. Eze Iweka III encouraged the young men of Obosi to pursue trade skills and engage in legitimate commercial ventures.

Eze Iweka III also expressed his appreciation for the support of several individuals and organizations in sponsoring the 2023 Obiora festival and contributing to the development of Obosi town.

The festival featured a focus on peace and the celebration of the yam harvest, promoting values of mutual love, forgiveness, and sharing while discouraging any form of conflict, with penalties imposed by Ndi Omenani for those who engaged in fighting.

Barrister Chimezie Obi, the President-General of Obosi Development Union, revealed the town union's proactive approach to combat criminal activities. He reported that, during a recent operation, the union apprehended approximately eight suspected criminals in their hideouts, confiscated their dangerous weapons, and handed them over to the police for thorough investigations and potential prosecution.

The festival culminated with the chieftaincy decoration and the honoring of Chief Sir Chibuzor Okeke from Nkpor community, who was bestowed with the title of "Okeosisi Obosi" by Eze Iweka III and Ndi Ichie Obosi. Chief Sir Chibuzor Okeke commended Igwe Dubem Iweka as an inclusive king who acknowledges the goodness in others and invoked blessings for his continued prosperous reign.
