In a decisive move, the Anambra State Police have successfully dismantled two dangerous syndicates operating in Ozubulu and Umunze towns, targeting unsuspecting members of the public through extortion and deadly threats.

According to Anambra State Police Command's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, two suspects were apprehended at Umunze, the Orumba South LGA Headquarters, following an extensive investigation.

The arrested individuals had reportedly sent threatening text messages to their victim, claiming affiliation with ESN and demanding a substantial sum. Failure to comply, they warned, would result in the kidnapping and murder of the victim's daughter. Both suspects are currently in custody and are slated for imminent court arraignment.

Meanwhile, in Ozubulu, the Ekwusigo LGA Headquarters, law enforcement arrested a male suspect who utilized two different phone lines to issue life-threatening warnings to a local businessman. Identifying himself as an ESN Commander, the suspect ordered the victim to pay or face fatal consequences.

A thorough investigation, utilizing a combination of technology and human assets, led detectives to the suspect's hideout where he was apprehended. Both SIM cards associated with the threats were recovered. The suspect is now in police custody, awaiting formal charges in court.

Commending the diligent efforts of the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) involved, Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye expressed appreciation for their meticulous work, which resulted in identifying and apprehending the crime suspects. He affirmed the commitment of the Command Headquarters to continually motivate personnel across the state, ensuring optimal performance in maintaining public safety.
