Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has urged officers within the Command to consistently honour and cherish their spouses, recognizing them as essential pillars that contribute to their professional success and advancement in the police force.
CP Adeoye delivered this charge
on Thursday during the decoration ceremony for recently-promoted officers at
the Command's Headquarters in Amawbia.
The event included the
decoration of two officers promoted from Chief Superintendent of Police to the
rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police, nine officers promoted from
Superintendent of Police to Chief Superintendent of Police, and seven officers
promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Police to Deputy Superintendent of
Police.
In his address to the officers,
CP Adeoye extended congratulations to the newly-promoted individuals,
highlighting the significance of promotions and postings in making a police
career dynamic and engaging. He urged them to leverage their expertise in their
new roles and emphasised that their promotions were based on merit, aligning
with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun's commitment to
meritocracy and improved officer welfare.
Emphasising the importance of
respecting human rights, CP Adeoye called on the officers to consistently
exhibit and promote professionalism while serving as positive representatives
of the Nigeria Police Force.
CP Adeoye stressed the crucial
role of spouses as unwavering supporters in the officers' careers and reminded
them to honour and appreciate their life partners.
"Don’t forget your spouse
who has always been there for you, helping you to secure your homes when you
are out there answering the call for national duty. And always remember that in
the Nigeria Police Force, whatever rank you wear, your spouse wears the next
higher rank to it. So, never you forget your spouse; always respect, cherish
and care for them at all times. And remember to be more considerate,
compassionate and dedicated in the discharge of your duties,” he admonished.
Representing their peers, some
of the newly-promoted officers, ACP Kalu Ifeanyichukwu and CSP Murtala Mudi,
expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun, the
Police Service Commission, and CP Adeoye for the promotions. They pledged to
remain dedicated and professional in their duties, spurred on by the
recognition. The decoration ceremony was assisted by senior officers of the
Command and the spouses of the newly-promoted officers.
