Three Persons Burnt In Alive Anambra Communities


Three unidentified persons were burnt alive in separate communities in Nnewi South Local Government Area.

The grim occurrence happened on Wednesday, shocking residents who awoke to the ghastly discovery of three charred bodies at distinct locations within the area. The affected areas include the Junction of Utuh community along the Ọnụ Soroọgụ Road and Amannalụ Junction in Ebenator. Two of the victims met their grim fate at the Utuh Junction, while one suffered a similar fate at the Ebenator Junction.

As of the time of this report, the identities of both the perpetrators behind this gruesome act and the burnt victims remain shrouded in mystery. It is believed that the macabre incident occurred during the preceding night or early morning.

Sources near the crime scenes have suggested that the three individuals, burnt unrecognisable by the fire, may have been involved in criminal activities that led to their capture and subsequent extrajudicial execution.

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, expressed his lack of information about the incident. He also referred to the state police commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, who has consistently cautioned against vigilante justice and the unlawful taking of the law into one's hands. Instead, he emphasised the importance of delivering suspects to the police for thorough investigation and potential prosecution.

"The Command condemns this act in totality and has always encouraged the public to take suspects to police stations whenever they are apprehended. This will help the Police to conduct proper investigations and bring the suspects to justice under extant laws," stated DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, reinforcing the commitment to the rule of law and due process in addressing criminal matters.
