Magistrate arrested for disguising as a woman to write law exam for girlfriend


Kusa, a newly appointed Magistrate, was arrested for writing the Ugandan law examination for his girlfriend, Irene Mutonyi.

 

According to reports, Kusa disguised as a lady and sat for the examination at the Law Development Centre (LDC) Lira, Uganda, hoping that he will not be caught.

 

Kusa was promoted to Grade 1 Magistrate  by the Judicial Service Commission two weeks ago before his arrest.

 

Semwogerere fondly called Mukisa Anthony was caught on Friday, July 28, 2023 in the examination hall.

 

The magistrate who arraigned on two counts charge of forgery  has been remanded  in prison custody till August 3.

 

LDC director, Frank Nigel Othembi said Semwogerere’s offense  contravenes Section 351 of the Penal Code Act and Impersonation contrary to Section 381 of the Penal Code Act.

 

“We reported the matter to the Police and he has been charged with two counts of uttering a false document contrary to Section 351 of the Penal Code Act and Impersonation contrary to Section 381 of the Penal Code Act and remanded to prison till August, 3, 2023.

 

“We will ensure that this case is prosecuted fully to its conclusion, including all other culpable persons. We will continue with our zero tolerance policy towards any such conduct.”

 

LDC is currently conducting final written examinations across all its three Campuses- Kampala, Lira and Mbarara. LDC does not condone any act of examination malpractice.
