Anambra State Government Reiterates Directive On Tenant Documentation Fees

 

  

                 

Opuofoni Freedom Ebimotimi, a first-class graduate of University of Ibadan was killed at the early hours of today at Honeyhill Tombia Bayelsa State for stealing bread, according to Peoples' 93.1FM.

 

Opuofoni Freeborn Ebimotimi who was From Korokorosei community of Southern Ijaw Local Government area Studied Business Administration (B.Sc) University of Ibadan.

 

The32-year-old was beaten to death by angry youths for stealing a bread this morning,

 

Neighbors and friends who saw the incident rushed to the scene of the actions and pleaded with the angry youths to allow him leave, stating they will pay for the bread in double folds but the angry youths decline the plead of the people as they killed him.

 

Opuofoni Freeborn Idisemi, the younger sister to the deceased lament that life has been unfair to them since the demise of their father adding that she has no idea of what led him to steal bread this morning stating that they are used to the hardship of life.

 

She however points out that despite having uncles who are doing well in government and other places but could not help them.

 

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the lynching of Ebimotimi Freeborn, accused of stealing bread along the Tombia-Amassoma Road, in the Yenagoa area of the state.

 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, in a statement on Tuesday, identified the suspects as Preye Mathew, Theophilus Tiro and Famous Precious.

 

Butswat said, “The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the mob action by an unruly crowd, which led to the death of Ebimotimi Freeborn, 32.

 

“The suspects, Preye Mathew, 50, Theophilus Tiro, 28, and Famous Precious, 22, were arrested on July 9, 2023, around 5pm along the Tombia- Amassoma Road, after an angry mob lynched the suspect to death for allegedly stealing bread.

 

“The command condemns the action of the mob and warns members of the public to desist from taking laws into their own hands. The suspects are undergoing interrogation and would be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.”
