Chelsea's potential new manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly approved of the club's imminent attempt to sign Bayern Munich attacker Sadio Mane this summer.
Mane, who joined the Bavarians from Liverpool
last year, has had a difficult season, starting only 17 matches in the
Bundesliga so far. Additionally, an altercation with teammate Leroy Sane
following a Champions League loss to Manchester City has not helped Mane's
reputation among club management and supporters, which could lead to his
departure.
Football Insider suggests that Pochettino has
given Chelsea the go-ahead to pursue Mane, as the former Tottenham Hotspur
manager is reportedly a great admirer of the Senegalese attacker. The report
also claims that Chelsea is open to offers for Mane and that a bid of £30
million could result in an instant deal between the Blues and Bayern.
It is believed that Mane will be Chelsea's
top priority signing as the club aims to address its offensive issues, which
have proven to be costly this season. Caretaker boss Frank Lampard will lead
his team to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday for a Premier League match against
Arsenal, where a victory would take Chelsea above the 40-point mark with only
five matches remaining.
