Master Lotanna Azuokeke, a 15-year-old student at Bishop Otubelu Juniorate in Trans Ekulu, Enugu, has achieved an outstanding result in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to Dr Chiwuike Uba, Media Adviser
to the Bishop of the Diocese of Nike (Anglican Communion) and Founder of the
school, Azuokeke scored a total of 337 marks in the UTME, a feat that has never
been achieved in the school's history.
Dr Uba went further to reveal that Azuokeke,
who hails from Ọba in Idemmili South LGA of Anambra State, scored 88 marks in
chemistry, 86 in physics, and 64 in the English Language. The impressive feat
has surpassed the previous record set by Chidera Obi, who scored 329 marks to
emerge overall best in the UTME five years ago.
Azuokeke's score and achievements are a
testament to the quality of education being offered by Bishop Otubelu
Juniorate, which was established on October 6, 2008, with the aim of
contributing to improved education standards.
Bishop Otubelu Juniorate started with just 24
students, but now has a student population of 411, which is a testament to the
school's growth and success. The school recorded a 100% success rate in the
last Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and three students came out
with 11As each. Dr Uba expressed his pride in the school's achievements,
stating that the JAMB, WASSCE, and NECO results of the school are simply
wonderful and not bad, respectively.
Azuokeke's impressive score has sparked
excitement in the academic community and beyond, and it is no surprise that he
has been offered admission to study electrical/electronic engineering at the
prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
