The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested two gun runners in Wukari, Taraba state.
In a statement, Musa Danmadami, director of
defence media operations, said acting on credible intelligence, the troops
raided a weapon fabrication factory and apprehended the suspects on Friday.
Danmadami said the troops recovered two GPMG,
one KPM, four AK-47, three pistols, one PKT, five 9mm ammunition, two 7.63 x
54 ammunitions, seven rifle butts, and several parts of different rifles.
He said the suspects, recovered weapons, and
ammunition were handed over to appropriate authorities for further action.
“The military high command commends troops of
Operation Whirl Stroke and encourages the general public to avail troops with
credible and timely information on terrorists and all criminal activities
within their area,” he said.
