Mutfwang
The Governor-Elect of Plateau State, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang, in pursuit of the objective; to guarantee the prosperity of the diverse peoples on the Plateau, Mutfwang in 2011 offered to represent his constituency Mangu/Bokkos in the House of Representatives, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He narrowly lost the primary election to the
eventual winner, however in furtherance of his belief in politics without
bitterness, and in demonstration of team spirit; he actively mobilised
resources for the eventual victory of his opponent at the primaries, as well as
other PDP candidates in the general elections which enhanced his popularity
greatly.
In 2014, Mr. Mutfwang was called upon by the
people of Mangu LGA, to run for the office of the Chairman of the LGA, which he won.
Mr. Mutfwang was elected as Mangu Local
Government Chairman in Plateau on February, 25th, 2014, and sworn in on March 3,
2014, but was removed from office by Governor Lalong on July 5, 2015, barely
two months after he took over as governor.
Lalong, who won the election on the platform of
the APC had, on June 5, 2015, sacked all the seventeen elected PDP Chairmen who
still had more than a year to serve out their two-year tenure and replaced them
with Interim Management Committees. The Chairmen were angry and dragged the
governor to court to allow them to complete their tenure but the governor stood
his ground and forced them out of office.
Mr. Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples democratic
party (PDP), who is now the Governor-Elect of Plateau State, became the face of
the advocacy by the sacked LG Chairmen to reclaim their offices after he was
made their spokesperson.
But as fate will turn out, the same Governor
Lalong, who forced him out of office in 2015, will be handing over to him as
the new governor of Plateau State, come May 29, 2023.
This classroom called life is full of lessons
to make us humble in power, but many have refused to learn. They live and
trample on others as if they know tomorrow, including those whose name means,
"No one knows tomorrow."
They that have ears, let them hear!
