Mikel Arteta 'ready' to axe Arsenal trio including Granit Xhaka to fund summer transfer plan

Arsenal are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Granit Xhaka, Kieran Tierney, and Folarin Balogun this summer, as they prepare for a small rebuild following their successful season that has earned them a place in the Champions League.

The Gunners are expected to cash in on Xhaka's high value to fund other transfers, with West Ham's Declan Rice and Chelsea's Mason Mount emerging as their priority midfield targets.

Xhaka, who has played 32 Premier League matches this season, has been a mainstay in the Arsenal side, but the club may consider selling him to generate funds for new signings. Despite his importance to the team, the 30-year-old Swiss midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in the past, and it seems that Arsenal is open to considering offers for him this summer.

Meanwhile, Tierney has also been linked with a potential departure from the Gunners, with Newcastle reportedly interested in signing him. The Scottish left-back has had a solid season, making 25 appearances in the Premier League and providing three assists. However, Arsenal may consider selling him if the right offer comes along, as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.

Another player who could be on his way out of Arsenal is Folarin Balogun. The 20-year-old striker has been impressive during his loan spell at French club Reims, scoring 19 goals in 32 matches this season. However, he may struggle to find game time next season, with Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli ahead of him in the pecking order. As a result, a number of Premier League sides have been linked with a move for him, while AC Milan and Marseille are also reportedly interested.

Arsenal has set a £26million asking price for Balogun, and it remains to be seen whether any club will be willing to meet that valuation. Nevertheless, if a suitable offer comes in, Arsenal may consider selling him to generate more funds for other transfers.

Aside from these players, Arsenal may also part ways with Reiss Nelson, whose contract expires at the end of the season. The 21-year-old winger has struggled for game time this season, making just two Premier League appearances, and is reportedly attracting interest from Brighton and Aston Villa. Additionally, Ainsley Maitland-Niles will leave the Gunners when his loan spell at Southampton ends, after failing to establish himself as a regular starter under Mikel Arteta.

Overall, Arsenal's small rebuild this summer may involve the departure of some key players, but it could ultimately lead to a stronger squad as they look to build on their success and compete in the Champions League next season.
