Football sensation Erling Haaland has finally put an end to the speculation surrounding his next boot deal by re-signing with Nike.
The US sportswear company was reported to
have been leading the race to secure Haaland's signature back in February,
after his previous contract with the company had expired in January 2022.
Since then, the Norwegian has been seen
wearing boots from Nike as well as rival brands Adidas and Puma, as he weighed
up his options. However, Haaland has now made his decision and has joined
Nike's impressive roster of talent, which includes Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De
Bruyne, Leah Williamson, and Alexia Putellas.
Throughout the decision-making process,
Haaland's camp had been looking for a healthy financial package. However, the
footballer's comfort and satisfaction with the product was always the priority.
Nike has cited the 22-year-old's
"unprecedented rise through European club football," and his
impressive goalscoring feats only serve to cement his status as one of the
faces of the brand. Haaland has scored an astonishing 42 goals in 37 games for
Manchester City this season, and has become the youngest player in Champions
League history to reach 30 goals.
As for his immediate future, Haaland is
facing a race to be fit after picking up an injury during the international
break. Haaland was on taeget in Manchester City 4-1 defeat of Liverpool on
Saturday.
